Burnout is a constant danger for pastoral leaders, especially when they feel overworked and under-appreciated. Mix & Match: Styles and Strategies for Pastoral Leaders
-
There is no one particular way to be an effective pastoral leader. Some of us prefer collaboration while others like to work autonomously. Some adopt a very visible presence among the community while others tend to work behind the scenes. This workshop explores various leadership styles and ways in which to expand and enhance them.
Successful Strategies for Managing Conflict
-
Where two or more are gathered together... there is the potential for conflict! Rather than seeing this as a negative sign in an institution or group, it can be a vehicle for tremendous growth and deepened understanding of one another. This workshop examines the causes of conflict and provides strategies that manage conflict in healthy and productive ways.
How Did This Job Get So Complicated?
-
When they first signed on for their position, not many pastoral leaders figured on the amount of time they would need to spend tending to administrative details. After this workshop, participants will walk away with several practical and workable ideas on managing their time, resources and energy so that they can fulfill both the administrative and pastoral responsibilities of their jobs with enthusiasm and creativity.
Keep Holy the Sabbath – Care of the Minister’s Soul
-
Hildegard of Bingen wrote that there was nothing sadder than a “drooping soul.” Ironically, it is often those in ministry who suffer most frequently from this type of malady. In giving so much to others, they can become parched and brittle. In this workshop, we will look at various ways to keep the “greening” of our souls a priority and how it keeps us deeply immersed in an awareness of the love and splendor of God.
The Compassionate Minister
-
Cultivating Christ-like compassion in oneself results in a deepening of the spirit and softening of the heart. This makes us better able to listen, serve, and love those to and with whom we minister. This workshop is designed to help pastoral ministers look back and to consider the ways in which they serve in a compassionate manner and how to intensify these efforts in the future.
What Do I Have to Give? The Song of Christian Stewardship
-
What do I have to give? The way we ask this question says a lot about how we regard stewardship. If the emphasis is on “have to”, it speaks of stewardship as more of a burden than a joy, a dirge than a hymn. This workshop examines the qualities of Christian stewardship that create rhythm, harmony, and sweet music in our homes, in our parish communities, and in the broader world.
