Conversations

Some of the best conversations I have ever had included a few tears and a lot of laughter. On this page, I hope you will find a bit of both as I share thoughts and reflections on my work and day-to-day experiences as a writer, consultant, and spiritual director. I am continuing to process the year-long trip that I took with my husband, Ron, across the country, as well as what it feels like to be settled into a home on the edge of the woods in Colorado. References to these experiences also make their way into these blogs.
In order for this page to truly be a conversation, however, there needs to be some feedback from you, the reader. I hope that you will keep in touch by way of this online journal and share you own thoughts with me and others who have tuned in. You can subscribe to Conversations by clicking on the button to the right.
The summer is drawing to a close. Even though it has been a pleasant and mostly uneventful one, I can’t say I am sorry to see the days growing shorter. Fall is my favorite time of year. Not only is it beautiful when the leaves change color and the sky turns a deeper shade of blue, but it also signals new activity. I take to the road once again during the fall, to give talks in various parts of the country. My love of travel kicks in and I relish the opportunity to meet new people and visit new places.

This year I’ll see the sights of fall with new eyes. I had cataract surgery on both eyes in June and the results have been stunning. Colors are brighter and shapes more sharply defined. I feel like I have re-discovered the beauty of our surroundings here in Perry Park. It is also like being given a second chance to view the world through a new lens. Perhaps that’s why I look forward to my autumn travels with such high expectations.

There are new writing opportunities on the horizon as well. My book, Everything About Parish Ministry I Wish I Had Known, is going to be re-published by Twenty Third Publications. It went out of print five years ago and I have since self-published it. Because it is still in demand, the decision to reinstate it to Twenty Third’s line will give it a second launch. In addition, our book, The Long Road to Oklahoma, is now being sold at the Tattered Cover bookstores here in Denver. I am starting a new blog for William H. Sadlier, and continue to write a column for Creative Catechist magazine.

So, it’s no wonder I look forward with such anticipation and hope to the days and months ahead. There is much to be excited about!
